J.R. BergeronPresident/Principal

J.R. Bergeron has over 30 years of heavy construction, design build, site development, and emergency services experience, including processing more than two million cubic yards of hurricane debris after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Most recently J.R. and his team completed a large scale recycling project for Broward County Waste & Recycling Services. The project processed over 1.8 million cubic yards of hurricane debris, including vegetative, hazardous and non-hazardous materials that had been stockpiled for more than five years.

As President/Principal of Bergeron Land Development, and Founder/Owner/President of Bergeron Emergency Services, he coordinates bidding, contract negotiations, management and control of all projects for airports, FDOT, municipal disaster recovery contracts, SFWMD, and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers projects valued at more than one billion dollars. His breadth of work spans across various county agencies throughout South and Central Florida, especially Broward County.

Phil DesaiCPA, Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Desai draws on over 20 years experience in the financial sector. He is responsible for all administrative, HR and risk management functions, managing banking relations as well as financial reporting, tax compliance, management information systems and accounting support for the Bergeron Family of Companies. He is also responsible for overseeing the investment portfolio of the Bergeron Family. Mr. Desai, a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant, joined the Bergeron Family in 1998. Before joining the company, Mr. Desai worked in public accounting including Big 4 firm for over seven years assisting a wide range of clients, including real estate firms, cruise lines, financial institutions and construction companies.

Brian ThomasonVice President of Operations

Mr. Thomason is a senior manager who has led hundreds of debris projects in over 25 major disaster declarations. His experience includes direct responsibility for resolution of program issues associated with all categories of the FEMA Public Assistance Program. Drawing from past experiences as an Emergency Manager, he has assisted local units of government with recovery efforts stemming from natural disasters, and is experienced in managing a full range of recovery projects from conception to completion. Prior to working for BES, he served as Cumberland County, North Carolina Emergency Management Agency, Deputy Director with duties that included coordination of Emergency Management Operations countywide. As a firefighter, Mr. Thomason also served as a Hazardous Materials Response Specialist and was assigned to the NC Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team (RRT#3) and was requested on several occasions to provide Hazardous Materials Technician Training and Instruction, Confined Space Training and Trench Rescue Training through the NC Department of Insurance in various locations throughout the state

Raymond NelSafety & Health Manager

Mr. Nel is a senior manager with over 20 years of safety experience on all facets of construction and environmental projects. His experience and commitment to safety has led him to teach OSHA safety. He is also the president and owner of Safety Training Consulting & Labor LLC; a company he set up to train individuals in OSHA safety standards. He has trained staff and employees of a subcontractor who worked on US Navy Air Stations, general and shell contractors in Miami. He is a certified trainer for the OSHA outreach training programs such as HAZWOPER, 40 OSHA, 502 and is a registered EMT- I with the state of Illinois. His training and expertise coupled with certifications in traffic management, construction, manufacturing, and equipment operator examiner, and 56000 Disaster Site Worker are ideal qualifications for debris and disaster safety management.

Terry BohannonEquipment and Logistics Manager

Mr. Bohannon has been in the Heavy Construction/Heavy Equipment Industry for 46 years. As the equipment manager, Mr. Bohannon deals with all the companies equipment needs from fleet vehicles, heavy earthwork/roadway equipment to Draglines and mining equipment. Mr. Bohannon also deals with the purchasing of materials. These include large pumps, electrical materials, light poles, pipe and structures as a few examples.

Pablo GonzalezChief Estimator

Mr. Gonzalez has more than 28 years of experience in construction. He has worked internationally both in North and South America taking on the roles of  field engineer, project engineer, superintendent, engineering- design coordinator, Sr. estimator, Sr. project manager, construction manager, investor and former construction company owner. His diverse experience includes Public and Private-funded projects in Marine, Bridge, and Roadway construction. His primary role is to assess the viability of every project and work with his team of estimators to review, plan, schedule, and price a successful bid proposal.
