Bergeron Land Development, in partnership with the City of Miami Beach, works to fight sea level rise with pump stations and elevated roadways and seawalls.Miami, Fla. – The Executive Committee of the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers has recognized Bergeron Land Development’s recent reconstruction of Alton Road in South Miami Beach as their 2016 Project of the Year (Category III). The award highlights firms and projects that contribute to the enhancement of the industry while advancing of the quality of life in the community.

With the media claiming that Miami Beach may be ground zero for climate change, Bergeron Land Development’s work on Alton Road received attention from governmental institutions, other communities, scientists and researchers worldwide. Bergeron Land Development, in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), improved all aspects of Alton Rd, from roadway, landscaping and pedestrian areas, to drainage, water mains and installation of pump stations. All these efforts, in addition to the Bergeron’s work with the City of Miami Beach Pump Stations Project have one goal: To keep the City of Miami Beach above the raising waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Alton Road construction project involved two bridge modifications, 1.3 miles of complete roadway reconstruction, 220 drainage structures and more than 13,000 feet of pipe.
