Bergeron Land Development is proud to announce that its Safety and Health Manager, Raymond Nel, has passed the Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) exam. The exam tests qualified applicants’ knowledge of project management, worksite auditing, training and professional responsibility. Additionally, the exam measures the applicant’s ability to work with the construction management team to review the safety aspects of contracts, develop a site-specific safety plan, assess worksites to identify hazards and non-compliance, evaluate workers’ safety training needs and how to provide the training, and maintain accurate records of inspections and safety trainings.

As a result of Nel’s demonstrated competency in preventing illness and injury on the worksite, the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) has awarded him the accreditation of Certified Health and Safety Technician.

Nel joined the Bergeron Land development in 2016 and is responsible for continuously setting and reviewing health and safety guidelines, planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs in order to minimize on-site accidents and injuries.

“The entire Bergeron family is proud of Raymond. Not only for earning this prestigious distinction, but for also raising Bergeron’s already high standard for safety,” said President J.R. Bergeron.  “At Bergeron, safety is a large part of our culture.”

Bergeron Land Development requires that all employees complete the OSHA 30 Hour-Construction Safety Course. On construction worksites, all workers, government inspectors, visitors, technicians and subcontractors are required to attend the Site Safety Orientation before they can enter the site. In addition, all heavy equipment operators are tested and certified as Qualified Operators.
