Ronald M. Bergeron, Sr.

Founder and President

“Alligator” Ronald Bergeron, got his start in 1962 when he cleared five acres of land in Davie, Florida with only a machete, an axe, a rope and an old Mercury truck. He invested his hard-earned $235 in a 1943 Ford Ferguson tractor which he used to help farmers plant orange groves and clear tracts for pasture land for cattle.

When the orange and cattle industry began to decline, he traded his tractor for a bulldozer to make way for the housing boom. Seeing another opportunity, he ventured into the quarry business providing raw rock material needed for buildings and state highways.

In 1965, Bergeron Land Development, Inc. (BLD) was incorporated and, since then, Bergeron has grown communities, expanded commerce and improved commutes – all while protecting Florida’s environmentally sensitive ecosystem.

In addition to all of his entrepreneurial efforts overseeing an empire of more than 40 successful companies, Ron is a Gladesman at heart and is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Florida Everglades.

He currently serves on the board of directors for the South Florida Water Management District, and is a former commissioner for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and was the Florida Wildlife Conservation Point Commissioner over the entire Florida Everglades.
